Although self-love is widely discussed these days, I have seen it being greatly misunderstood. It is often understood only superficially.
Some use it as a coping mechanism, turning to self-love with closed hearts because they believe it means loving yourself when nobody else will. While that’s completely fine, what’s not is the part where we don’t focus on healing and opening our hearts.
Others use it as a way to validate their self-centeredness or service to self.
Only discernment can reveal the true meaning of self-love.
Healing Through Self Love
Healing is an inward journey through which you discover yourself and tune into the highest frequency or version of yourself. This is possible only through the pathways of love and acceptance.
However, it is a process to get there, and one must willingly choose this path of healing. What many people aren’t aware of is their own free will to choose something like this. Therefore, most people become victims of life.
What is self-love?
I’d like to define it as acknowledging and loving all parts of yourself—your body, your experiences, your mistakes, your shadow self, and your entire multidimensional being.
I believe it’s very important to mention oneness or unity consciousness when we talk about self-love. It’s quite easy to be misled into a self-centered state in the name of self-love if we don’t understand unity consciousness.
Unity consciousness is the awareness or understanding that we are all one. Everything and everybody is a reflection of ourselves, existing in different frequencies and realities.
What does this mean for you?
This means that whatever love you cultivate for yourself must also be extended outward, not just within, because everyone else is also you, experiencing different realities. It means that you become more and more empathetic.
What does self-love have to do with oneness?
If we don’t understand the concept of oneness, self-love can be cultivated from a place of ego. When this happens, there is a lack of empathy and compassion towards others.
You might have seen many narcissists preach about self-love with complete disregard for people’s emotions and without understanding the true esoteric meaning of it. This is because it is egocentric.
This should not be confused with healthy boundaries. You can be empathetic and aware of oneness while still maintaining energetic, emotional, or physical boundaries that feel right for you.
How Self-Love Can Heal You
Forgiveness and Acceptance
Whether it’s forgiving someone else or yourself, love teaches you to accept the humanness of everyone, including yourself. If you can learn to be patient, empathetic, and compassionate with yourself, you can accept all parts of who you are and forgive both yourself and others.
Guilt and Shame
Many people allow these two emotions to consume them because they can’t see a way out. The way out is self-love. It doesn’t matter what happened to you or what you did; there’s always a lesson. The goal is to learn the lesson and then let go of the negative emotions. Letting go of these emotions is only possible if you can love and accept all aspects of yourself.
Self-Worth
When you have a strong sense of conscious self-love, your self-worth will also be elevated, making it nearly impossible for you to get stuck in low-vibrational experiences. This creates a whole new reality for you.
Separation from Ego
As you understand the deeper meaning of self-love and become one with everything, you will become more aware of your ego. Until then, we all have ego and remain unaware of its presence. To transcend ego-centric consciousness, it is important first to become aware of it. This is precisely what the frequency of love can achieve.
