If you’re overwhelmed by the overload of informative videos on ICT’s Youtube channel, worry not. This post is going to cover everything you need to know to study ICT trading.
Who is ICT?
Michael J. Huddleston, known by the pseudonym ICT, is an experienced trader. He has been a paid trading mentor but later freely taught his trading strategies on Youtube.
Learning ICT concepts was a game changer in my trading journey. He is the best to learn institutional trading from(in my opinion). Of course, there are a lot of new traders (most of whom are his students) who are now teaching his methods as well.

What you CAN expect from ICT :
Unhurried and detailed explanation
The videos are long and detailed as he shares his whole life experience with trading, and it’s all GOLD. So do not skip.
Mentoring
He not only teaches the technicalities of trading but also shares his experience and coaches mentally, which motivated me and made me believe in myself.
Pure price action
He teaches pure price action and no other “tricks” or “quick money making strategies” and to trade without indicators.
Life changing experience
If you are committed to this journey and invest your time in his content, your life will change forever in the long run, provided you do your part as well.
What you CANNOT expect :
Short and precise videos
If you are looking for overnight success, this isn’t for you. It takes a lot of time, but it’s going to be worth it.
False promises
He does not promise anything because he can only TEACH; the rest is in your hands. You have to PRACTICE and understand your OWN style.
Who this is NOT for :
If you are a complete beginner, with no knowledge of trading concepts or basics, ICT may not be the place to start. Read How I taught myself trading : a complete road map to get started.
Guide to studying trading concepts from ICT
On ICT’s YouTube channel, you will find a lot of videos, grouped into playlists.
It can be quite overwhelming if you’re new to trading or unfamiliar with ICT concepts.
Which playlist do I begin with?
This is the order in which I personally studied it and found it to be the most efficient :
- Market Maker Forex Series
- Market Maker Primer Course
- Pattern Recognition Series
- Forex Scout Sniper Basic Field Guide
- 2022 ICT Mentorship
- 2016 Private Mentorship**
** This was a 12 month mentorship, so there are 12 playlists corresponding to each month.
MUST Do’s
- Don’t Skip: It is important to watch ICT’s videos without skipping because he sure does drop precious information when you least expect it.
- Take notes: You will need to take notes every step of the way through the content of ICT, as it’s going to be an overload of information.
- Practice simultaneously: You may want to practice new information as you learn in order to become familiar with the concepts. Waiting until the end to practice can be quite overwhelming.
Conclusion
This is a personal experience only and not a promotion. If you feel called to give ICT concepts a shot, go for it. If you feel this is not for you, you are free to choose your trading journey, as there is no right or wrong way to learn trading.
